QCAD Product Catalogue

A satirical university program guidebook that critiques the commodification of tertiary education.

The Problem

A symptom of late-stage capitalism, it is becoming increasingly common for educational institutions to behave like businesses, competing with each other to attract students. Used to being treated as consumers, students often view degrees as a product rather than as a part of holistic growth. This passive learning style is contributing to burnout and unfulfillment.

The Solution

The satirical guidebook concept takes the form of a product catalogue, critiquing the commodification of education. Through irreverent imagery and language, the booklet encourages readers to think critically about this issue in a tongue-in-cheek way. The visual language draws from vintage 1940's product catalogues and pin-up posters to evoke the sense of prestige that universities often project.

The Process

My QCAD guidebook concept takes the form of a satirical product catalogue to critique the commodification of education and its effects. Using irreverent imagery and language, the booklet encourages readers to think critically about this issue in a playful, tongue-in-cheek way.
